Foundation Grant Requests

We understand that it can be complicated and time-consuming to apply for funds. To assist you in this process and ensure that we receive all the information that we require to properly review your request, please complete the Grant Request Application Form.

We accept applications at any time from any registered Canadian charity. Applications are reviewed by The GlaxoSmithKline Foundation's Charitable Giving Team and applicants will be notified, regardless of outcome, within 8 weeks after receipt. Note: Due to the large volume of HIV/AIDS-related requests, these applications are handled through a separate grant review process (see below for further information).

Eligibility Criteria

The Foundation provides grants to registered Canadian charities whose projects/activities meet the following criteria:

  1. Are compatible with the focus of The Foundation,
  2. Are national or provincial in scope, or primarily serve the communities of Mississauga, Oakville, Ontario and Saint-Laurent, Quebec,
  3. Have direct, significant and sustained benefit for Canadians,
  4. Are pro-active and sustainable,
  5. Have a demonstrated plan to ensure future funding sustainability,
  6. Are in the planning or implementation stage.

Please note The Foundation does not support funding requests for:

  • individual scholarships/sponsorships
  • privately funded educational institutions
  • service clubs
  • fraternal, political or religious organizations
  • capital campaigns
  • research and development
  • feasibility studies
  • charity golf tournaments
  • conferences or congresses (exception: national/provincial hospice palliative care conferences)

For charitable organizations with a focus on a specific disease state, only those whose work is directly aligned to areas in which GSK has a medicine or product approved for market in Canada will be considered for funding.
