The Gift of Life
GlaxoSmithKline is a major donor of medical products to disaster relief efforts. But how does it get donated medicines to areas devastated by disaster?
The GlaxoSmithKline Foundation is dedicated to improving quality of life. Our focus is on the health and wellness of both individuals and communities. Therefore, The Foundation supports registered Canadian charities in the following areas:
The Foundation is committed to building healthy communities that embody the spirit of GlaxoSmithKline and its employees. The Foundation supports national or provincial health and social justice charities who are concerned with improving health outcomes of their memberships. While we often focus on the therapeutic areas in which GlaxoSmithKline has expertise - diabetes, respiratory, HIV/AIDS, mental health and cancer - our goal is to improve the quality of care and quality of life for all Canadians.
Future health innovation depends on creating opportunities for young Canadians in science. New research and development requires a vigorous scientific community, one that is continually rejuvenated. Our support for national or provincial science education programs for elementary and secondary school aged youth will help develop a future generation of scientists and scientifically literate citizens.
The Foundation is committed to the continued evolution of the hospice palliative care movement in Canada . Our support of the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association continues to facilitate a Canadian network striving for policy change and improvement in hospice palliative care services, support and access to quality end-of-life care.
For more information on these initiatives, visit the Hospice Palliative Care section of this site.
The Foundation wishes to be active in the communities where large numbers of GlaxoSmithKline employees work and live. We support local charitable organizations that focus on community health and social service projects in the areas of health care and health promotion, science education, hospice palliative care and HIV/AIDS to help ensure our communities are healthy, dynamic and caring places.
