GSK New Investigator Grant for Faculty in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery

The GlaxoSmithKline New Investigator Start-Up Grant for Faculty in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery start-up funding for a new pharmacy faculty's member's research program in pharmaceutics and drug delivery. A single one-time grant of Canadian $20,000 is awarded to an individual faculty member, starting his/her academic career.

Eligible applicants must have earned terminal degrees in their disciplines (Ph.D.) and have a regular full-time faculty appointment at the assistant professor level. The applicant's initial appointment to a full-time faculty position, either at their current institution or from a previous institution, must have started within the last 5 years of an Award year. For 2006, individuals appointed from July 1, 2001 will be eligible.

Award winners are selected from a panel comprising senior GSK scientists and invited independent faculty members. The following list provides a guide of the type of research programs that GSK would consider for the New Investigator Start-up Grant:

  • Drug Delivery/Formulation
  • Novel drug delivery technologies
  • Modified or targeted release formulation and delivery technologies, including novel polymers
  • Transmucosal or transdermal delivery
  • Process analytical technologies
  • Novel analytical technologies
  • Chronopharmacological drug delivery systems
  • Pulsatile drug delivery systems
  • Imaging techniques to study transport pathways
